Cougar Community

Navigating to the Cougar Community Team and Cougar Kudos Channel
   
On PC

Within the Teams application, from the search box at the top you can begin typing “Cougar Community” and select it from the list—see image below.

Or select the “Teams” tab on the left menu and then select the “Cougar Community” Team from your list of Teams—See image below. The position of the Team on your Teams tab can be repositioned by moving your mouse to the desired Team, clicking and holding the left-mouse button, dragging it to your desired location and releasing the mouse button.

Left-clicking the Team icon will open the Team--see Image below. The “General” channel is created by default and cannot be removed. There are currently no plans to use the General Channel.

Left-clicking the ellipsis (…) opens a menu, see below. The “Channel Notifications” menu selection includes a sub-menu. Hovering over the “Channel Notifications” menu selection with your mouse, opens another menu where you can select your notifications settings.

Select “New Conversation”, see image below.

This will open a window to enter your comments, see below. Simply enter your comments. Your comments can be augmented with “social media” features using the menu options below the text entry area. When your message is complete, left click the arrow at the bottom left to send the message.

The @mention feature can be used to notify someone of your post. To use it simply type the “@” and begin typing the person or team’s last name. As you begin typing, a list of employees and teams will appear. Simply select the person or team and type your message. More than one person or team can be @mentioned.

The third icon from the right under the text input window is a praise add-on that is used to send praise to people. The icon looks like an award badge. Left clicking the praise icon opens a window like the one shown below with twelve badges that can be awarded.

Left clicking any of the badges opens a window, like the one shown below, where the badge can be awarded and a personalized note included.

Once previewed and submitted, the post will appear as shown below. Hopefully, everyone will be notified of the post because they set their notifications to “All Activity” — see above. Others can reply to the post reinforcing the merit of the badge.

On Mobile

Unlike the desktop application, search within the mobile app doesn’t return Teams.

On the mobile app the menu is along the bottom, not the left side like the desktop application. Select the “Teams” tab from the menu along the bottom to display your Teams. From the list, scroll to find the desired Team e.g. “Cougar Connections” and select the desired channel. The Team cannot be selected from the mobile app. The first image below is list of Teams/Channels. The second image below is the display after selecting the Cougar Kudos channel.

Within the mobile app there are two notification selections that are accessible using the “bell” icon on the top right. Use the bell icon to make your selection — see image below.

  • When the selection is “Replies to my messages only” the bell icon will be crossed-out — see image above.
  • When the selection is “All new message…” the icon will not be crossed-out.

At the bottom of the screen, select “New Post”—see image above. This will provide a window as shown below to enter your post. Select the “+” sign next to the message enter window, This will provide additional “social media” features to augment your message. The second image below shows the message window with the additional features.
