Old Business

The Washington bus trip was a great success with fifty people attending. Students were pleased with the trip.   Future bus trips will
have a better system of head counts and a check in/check out roster.  A return of $1,100 from the bus trip will be added back to the budget.

International Day will be held Friday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.   There are some problems with participation at the moment.
The deadline for participation is Friday, April 5 so that food and supplies are purchased.  As of today there are only 6 groups registered to participate.   The committee voted that there must be 10 groups registered to run the event.   Linda Adams will email students about deadline.   Many teachers are giving extra credit for participation. There will be monetary prizes for winning categories.  Mr. Tyler
will email committee members on whether International Day will take place.

Jill Markwood was disappointed in the college turnout for renowned artist David Eakin. A reception was provided for the artist.  The committee will work harder to promote community involvement in visiting artists.

The Sunday, April 7, matinee trip to Staunton to see “The Country Wife”, a Restoration Era Comedy has had low participation.  Only eleven tickets were sold.  The ASC will accept a return of the tickets not sold and give credit for future events.  The trip in the fall was well attended so the committee wanted to try a spring trip.

New Business

Ms. Markwood estimates the cost of the Student Art Competition Show later this month to be $1,525.  The committee discussed the
use of the display case in the student center for Merritt Hall when renovations are going on in the student center.  After the renovations permanent art displays will be placed in the student center.  The committee would like a display case placed upstairs in Merritt Hall
that could have rotating displays of cultural work.  Any monies left from this year’s budget will go towards that display case.

The committee adjourned at 1:45 p.m.

Respectfully submitted
Barbara Scott
