Committee reviewed minutes from previous meeting on February 18th. Rick motioned to approve, which was seconded by Lorenz.
New Business:
Committee unanimously re-elected Michele Penner as Chair and Dani van Vierssen as Recorder for the next academic year. A goal for the committee was also discussed and it was decided that the goal will be to “Improve the process through which we financially support events on campus that expose students to culture, diversity and international education.”
Committee also discussed whether or not to bring Taylor Mali back to campus in the Fall semester. When he came previously the event was well attended. Michelle will get specific figures for both Taylor Mali and Sonya Nazario to determine how costs will fit into our budget. Committee agreed if we decided early enough that faculty may be able to work the event into their curriculum.
The Committee currently has about $2,300 left to spend so Michelle suggested we offer a bus trip to Busch Gardens. It would cost approximately $1,300 for the bus and $45 per ticket at the group rate. Committee agreed that the trip would be on May 16th and tickets sold to students/faculty/staff only at $25 per ticket.
Old Business:
Committee discussed details for upcoming International Week. Michelle will be coordinating with James Reid to take him to and from CVCC. The Committee members will be having dinner with him at 7pm at Milan on Monday, April 14th. Mr. Reid will be giving a lecture for the general public at 1pm and another for Club Latino in Spanish at 7pm on April 15th.
Dani has coordinated with Jabali Afrika, who will be performing in the Student Center on Wednesday. She also said the Student Government Association would be dressing up as different cultures and handing out chips & salsa from culinary the week before International Week to help advertise.
Rick sent out a list of International films to choose from and the committee selected Slum Dog Millioanre, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and the Last Samurai. Student Activities will provide popcorn.
During International Week Dina Paltoo will be presenting on Henrietta Lacks from 1-3pm in the Multipurpose room. The committee is helping to cover mileage.

The committee will revisit the application form for events, as well as the ticket refund/guarantee policy at the next meeting.
