Minutes were reviewed and approved.
author Beth Macy visit was a success in November. Raku Fest was booked up early and a great success. The VMFA tattoos only had eight students. The Blackfriar Theater trip to see a Christmas Carol was well attended. Current budget expenditures was provided to committee.
International Day was discussed and a date of April 22 was selected. Robert Moden has retired and he contributed to make this a great success. Jill will check on Buildings and Grounds to see if they can help with the United States cooking area. Matt Lattimer will assist in the cooking. Submissions of countries will be taken by Michelle Penner. Will Sandidge will be asked to help judge displays and food entries. Shelvia Forrest has also agreed to judge. The awards will be Best Food and Best Display. Debbie Harris and Barbara Scott will purchase food for the United States display. Students will be reimbursed for their food up to $50. Lorenz will check with guitarist and band for prices for International Day entertainment.
Student Art Fair from high schools will be April 8. Student picnic is scheduled for
April 29. Student Art Exhibit will be April 29 from 5:30-7:30. Jim Patterson would like to see more awards given. The awards will be given out at 6 p.m.
Debbie Harris will contact bus company about Washington D.C. trip date and prices for March.
Academy Center of Arts schedule was presented. Friday, March 25 the Academy will present Chicago’s Improv Troupe at 8 p.m. Thirty tickets will be reserved for the show and a minimum of 15 tickets will be reserved for students.
Of Ebony and Embers Vignettes of the Harlem Renaissanceis website was provided for committee members to review suggested group.
This is the 400th
anniversary of Shakespeare and The Tempest will be playing at the Blackfriar Theater. In April and June The Importance of being Earnest
matinees will be offered at the Blackfriar Theater.
Spring events will be finalized at the next meeting.
