CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION POLICY PROCEEDINGS

The Curriculum and Instruction Policy Committee met on Wednesday October 15, 2014, at 3 p.m. in the President’s Conference Room.  Attending were Jim Atkinson, Ava Connelly, Lynn Dillard, Kimberly French, Ruth Hendrick, Jeff Laub, Cynthia Lofaso, Muriel Mickles, Will Sandidge, and Ernie Wade.  Absent were Jim Lemons, Brent Lester, Judy Graves, Kris Ogden, and Charles Poff.
Will Sandidge, who chaired the meeting in Brent Lester’s absence, called the meeting to order.  The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the termination of programs of study due to low program viability.  Copies of the viability study indicating the three-year average graduates and FTEs for CVCC programs were distributed to the committee.  The minimum SCHEV/VCCS Viability Standards are as follows:

Will reviewed several of the programs and discussed their average graduates and FTEs.  They were all below the SCHEV minimum standard.   The Deans worked with the faculty to review the results of the viability study to terminate the program.
The divisions have developed teach-out plans for students who are currently enrolled in the program.
 
Jeff Laub made a motion to recommend termination of the programs indicated.  Muriel Mickles seconded the motion.  The motion was approved.
 
The meeting was adjourned at 3:25 p.m.
