Program Review – Kris Ogden
Coinciding with the Guided Pathways initiative, program coordinators and program heads were asked to conduct a complete program review beginning Fall 2016.  Approximately 25 of our active programs were modified.  Deans, faculty, and advisory boards were consulted and participated in this process.  As a result, a very detailed spreadsheet was developed and included items focusing on course efficiency, removal of extraneous credits, course transferability, compliance, Pathway alignment, and hidden prerequisites.  The afore-mentioned items were compared across the board and changes were made.     
A  detailed Program Review Checklist was developed for all degree levels utilizing specifics for each level of degree to assess the content and make changes as deemed appropriate.

Science (Math Specialization) Academic Pathway – Dr. Wallin
This Pathway is based on the Science Pathway with a Math specialization.  Our Engineering Articulation Agreement is drawing in a lot of students that are taking a lot of math classes. Also, a lot of students are taking engineering classes and want to major in math.   LC is promoting a Grow Your Own program producing biology, science, chemistry, and mathematics teachers and this pathway aligns with their program. 
Three math courses were removed from the Science Academic Pathway and three courses were added to replace those.  Those three math classes were lower-level classes and were replaced with courses of greater rigor.  In the Science Pathway, there are four science elective courses that are four credits each.  Those 16 credits have been replaced with science classes (natural science of math).  There is 1 additional credit for a total of 62.    There was discussion of a math focus, as well as the specialization rather than creating a new pathway.  It was mentioned that SIS is not set up to accept math courses as a science without significant changes in Peoplesoft.  This pathway will be endorsed for fall 2018 due to catalog changes that would need to be made.  The Math specialization was unanimously voted on for fall 2018 and will be submitted to the Board meeting in July.
Mechatronics Academic Pathway – Dr. Wallin
Dr. Cindy Wallin and Ms. Marci Gale sent out about 35 surveys to local manufacturing companies and met with 9 or 10 companies in February and discussed their needs in the areas of mechatronics and different skill sets.  Two consistently-mentioned items were that they need people that are willing to work and they need employees with math abilities and analytical thinking skills.  The employers also desire familiarity with PLCs, electronics, troubleshooting, and drafting. The pathway is derived from a combination of skills and knowledge they are seeking.  There are three industry credentials within the career study certificate and they are OSHA 10 certification with the SAF 130 class, and IND 195 and IND 295 with the Manufacturing Specialist and Manufacturing Technician I.  The Career Studies Certificate consists of 29 credits.  The intent of the pathway is to give students enough of a well-rounded skill set to speak intelligently, follow directions, explain details to co-workers, etc.  The pathway is comprised of basic standard skills that will hopefully give an individual a step above other applicants that may or may not have experience.  It was reiterated that the pathway was developed based on industry requests and not something we presented to them for their approval.  The committee unanimously voted on the Mechatronics Career Studies Certificate for fall 2017 to move forward.  The committee unanimously voted on the Mechatronics Associate’s Degree to move forward for fall 2018.
Prerequisite Issues – Dr. Wallin
Enforcement of a C or better in BIO 101 and 142 for sequential courses BIO 102 and BIO 142 is an issue.  Some are listed as recommend and are not always enforced.  It was also discussed that to pass a course, students need to make a D to graduate, but you need to make a C to take the second part of the course.  Dr. Wallin amended her motion to recommend a C or better in BIO 101 and BIO 141 to progress to second course rather than enforce as a requirement.
