Cindy called the meeting to order and the minutes from our last meeting were reviewed and approved.

Cindy updated us on the Distanced Education policy. A committee has been formed with representation from all three division. The members are Tom Sparhawk, Linda Mallory, Jason Ferguson, Ed McGee, Jim Lemons, Cynthia Lofaso, Shannon McDermott, and Cindy Wallin. The committee agreed that any mention of Blackboard would be changed to Canvas. There was also significant discussion about the meaning of the hybrid definition, in terms of the percentage of face-to-face contact.  No decision was made.  The Ad-hoc committee will continue to meet over the next year and will make necessary recommendations to the Distance Education Department.  This will in turn, be presented to the E2IT committee at a later date.

Kris Ogden asked that the D.E committee verify compliance so we can report to SACOCS. Ed was going to meet with Kris on this.

Donna raised the following question. What will faculty that do not teach online classes be expected to put in Canvas?

Discussion was had on next year’s chair. The committee suggested Ed McGee. Cindy Wallin will send an email to all committee members with this motion.

Ashley Pearson will serve as recorder next year.

Jim Atkinson motioned that we use current technology tools to enforce pre-requisites between fall and spring semesters and that we run a report in PeopleSoft to identify students who have not met the pre-requisites for courses they were enrolled in.

Donna seconded the motion, and the motion carried. Cindy Wallin will take the motion to the Curriculum and Instruction Committee.

Jim Atkinson asked why we are continuing to process withdraws by paper with the technology capabilities we have. David Lightfoot will research SIS capabilities for this.

Meeting adjourned at 1:47
