1. EAB Navigate
Kim French lead the discussion on using EAB Navigate. Cynthia Lofaso and Marci Gale have volunteered to be “super users” to inform the rest of the community at a later date on the pros and cons, and the best practices for using the many features of Navigate to manage student attendance and other aspects of student experiences. Evan Abatecola, Michael Farris, and Kevin Riley were on hand to answer some questions on student advising, and the integration of EAB Navigate with Canvas.
2. Approval of minutes
The March Faculty Association minutes was approved
3. CFAC Updates: Cynthia Lofaso provided the following CFAC information

Withdrawal Policy and the financial ramifications. Who is responsible, when are the deadlines
Parental Leave policy for classified staff (8-12 weeks); Faculty Leave
Policy on doing outside work; conflict of interest; Part-time work OK?

6. Transfer VA updates
Patricia Parker came to CVCC for an informational/update session on Transfer Virginia. Several faculty and guidance counselors attended the presentation hosted by Emily Muniz, CVCC’s point of contact for the Transfer VA initiative. Maps and contact persons were distributed during the Parker’s presentation
7. Tuition cost
Marc Zoccola informed the group about students’ concerns on rising tuition and textbook cost. Faculty in several disciplines teaching the same course use different textbooks. Students who transfer sections are caught in the middle of faculty’s adherence to academic freedom. Suggestion to use OER instead was suggested
8. CVCC Policy on OER
Juville informed the group that CVCC, through the ATD OER Cross functional team and the current OER Advisory Committee has adopted the College OER Policy. This document will be presented at the next Governance Council meeting for approval. Once approved, the document will become part of the CVCC policy manual.
9. Faculty Senate of VA
The group voted to join the Faculty Senate of Virginia.
