Virtual meeting on the Faculty Association Canvas Site (03/24/2020 – 04/09/2020)
- Approval of minutesThe minutes from the Faculty Association Meeting on February 11, 2020, were approved.
- Faculty Advising
Cynthia Deutsch advised that the initiation of this program is on hold, pending our return to campus.
- Summer Pay
There have been no further discussions on this issue. Cynthia Deutsch will inform the faculty if there are any additional discussions.
- Bookstore and book orders Charles Poff and Cynthia Deutsch met with bookstore staff, representatives, and campus administrators to discuss ongoing problems with the book ordering process. The general recommendation from the meeting was that the best practice was to submit all text orders through Follet Discover, being sure to mark the “no textbook required” option if no book is required at all. In the case of OER texts, it is best to notify the bookstore directly via email, copying the division office assistants. The OER function in Follett Discover is not helpful for most of our OER materials. These discussions are likely to continue as new issues arise. Please post anything that you continue to be concerned about regarding the bookstore ordering process in the Canvas discussion on Faculty Issues.
MEETING CLOSED ON 04/09/2020 AT 5:00 PM
- Faculty Support for a rapid transition to online courses
Discipline-specific discussion boards are available on the Faculty Association Canvas site. Anyone from any discipline, however, can contribute to any of the discussions if they have information that might be helpful. Please contribute, use this as a resource, and reach out to each other for help. To recommend changes or additions to the FA Canvas site, please contact Cynthia Deutsch or Jim Tuite.
