Approval of Minutes:
The minutes from the March 26, 2015 meeting have inadvertently not yet been posted on Communications Central. They were reviewed verbally and will be posted this week.
Alexcia reported a continued balance of $277.49 in the account. We also now have $150 available in local funds. $40 of the local funds was spent for pizza at today’s meeting, leaving a balance of $110.
PTSA Constitution and Bylaws:
The revised version has now been fully accepted by the President’s Council and the Governance Council.
PTSA Professional Development Awards:
Neither award was used last year, so that $150 will stay in the treasury. We are now on track to award one $75 award per semester.
Spring Pizza Fundraiser:
The following people assisted with the Spring Pizza Fundraiser, benefiting the CVCC Educational Foundation’s Student Emergency Fund:
Audrey Hudgins, Debbie Gilliam, Caroline Bailey, Sarah Jarrett, and Jana Fedele
2. Labor at Booth:
Alison Hyler, Jana Fedele, Mary Kay O’Brien, Stannard Preston, Cathy Sanders, Sarah Jarrett, Alexcia Linthicum
Volunteers for Governance Committees:
Staff at the meeting volunteered for the following committees on which there seems to be a part-time staff opening:
Cultural Diversity – Adeola Oyelabi
Employee Recognition – Cathy Beale
Financial Aid Appeal – Cathy Beale (continuing)
Professional Development – Cathy Sanders (continuing)
Safety/Security – Michael Danos
Social – Sarah Jarrett (continuing), Brittany Cochrane
Evaluation and Assessment – Sarah Jarrett (maybe—pending meeting time of Social)
Athletics – no volunteer
Jana will let Muriel know about the volunteers.
We plan to hold another Fall Pizza Fundraiser hopefully the 2nd or 3rd week of school. Jana will check and find out when space is available. Volunteers will be needed to staff the sale and send in treats. The Fundraiser will benefit the PTSA Professional Development/Book Award (first $75 earned) and then the CVCC Educational Foundation Student Emergency Fund with the remainder.
Professional Development/Book Award:
We will do a drawing for the Fall award of $75 next week. People who qualify to participate in the drawing are those who have attended a meeting, served on a Governance Committee, helped with the fundraiser, or helped with the community service project since January 2015.
SSDL Course Policy:
Jana is looking into whether the Shared Services Distance Learning courses are eligible to be covered under the educational benefit to employees. John Poole is looking into it. CVCC shares the tuition dollars for these courses with other schools, but it might be possible for an employee to take one of these courses at a reduced cost.
Our next PTSA meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2015.
