Fitness Center Update:
 
John P. reported on the Fitness Center and stated the contract has been signed by the contractor (Custom Structures) with a completion date scheduled for August 15, 2011.  
 
 
Agenda Items:
 
John P. distributed and the President’s Staff discussed the budget as of April 29, 2011.
 
 
Agenda Adjustment Items:
 
The President’s Staff discussed, at great length, the budget situation and stated they are looking at College expenses, at productivity analysis, and the possibility of beginning a student loan program for the College.
 
 
Divisional Report:
 
Geoff had no report.
 
John reported he and several more from the College will attend an Administrative Services Spring Conference of Virginia's Community Colleges on May 23 at the Hotel Roanoke.
 
George reported the following:
 
·         Tenth Annual Region 2000 Technology Council Awards Banquet will be held tomorrow night. Barbara Bragg has been chosen to receive an award at the Banquet.
·         On Thursday, AREVA summer apprenticeship applications will be reviewed.
·         Connections will be held on May 24 at Liberty University.
·         The 2011 Chancellor’s Award for Workforce Development and Training Luncheon will be held on May 25 with Kenneth Talbott, Lisa Goldin, Twila DeMasters, and Monica Burns being recognized.
·         Region 2000 School Superintendents' meeting will be held at CVCC on May 26.
·         B&W selected four of the seven interviewed candidates from the new Quality Diploma class. Job offers were made to those selected but later offers were made to the remaining three candidates as well. A media release will hopefully be made soon.  
 
Don reported a Tobacco Commission meeting will be held at May 26 at LU with a reception at Snowflex Centre. He also reported another Tobacco Commission meeting on education will be held this Wednesday at VA Tech.
 
David reported his area has been working on archiving email and retention to meet requirements. He stated the VCCS is discussing how to handle Google email as some faculty are using it. David also reported the Polycom that was purchased last year did not work properly but stated new equipment has been purchased and that seems to be working.
 
The meeting adjourned at 2:25 p.m.
 
The next President’s Staff meeting will be held on June 6, at 1 p.m.
