Updates from Michael
Budget Update
A few more tuition reimbursements are going through, but not much change in the budget overall.
Canvas PD Course Update
Michael provided a review of the Canvas shell for CVCC Professional Development. This will be a place to house all the current forms and information about how to request funds. It will also include upcoming events at CVCC, through the VCCS, and regionally that may appeal to our community. There is a section called the Professional Development Academy which will be a place to include various resources for both teaching faculty and staff.  Sarah will convene a subgroup of the PD committee staff members to generate ideas of categories to include under the “Support Staff” section. John suggested that Michael enroll the PD committee as students in the course so we can do some beta testing of the features.
New Horizons 2022 registrations
Kris reported that many requests are coming in for New Horizons along with many questions about payments, hotel, mileage, etc.. Michael will review some of Alison’s emails about the New Horizons process from the past and will work on updating these process documents and share with the faculty and staff ASAP.
It was noted that the deadline to New Horizons proposal submissions has been extended to February 15, 2022. The deadline to register to attend is March 7.
Other Topics
Forms Review
There are currently four forms for Professional Development Funding: Organization Memberships, Conferences, Trainings, and Tuition Reimbursement. The forms use more paper than necessary when printed and Alison had suggested some changes back in May 2020. Nothing was changed at that time due to Covid and limitations on Professional Development funding that following year. It was agreed that the forms need to be streamlined. Jim suggested creating pdf fillable forms as the best option and one that is in line with the VCCS and will stay the same regardless of a personal preference for MS or Google products. The VCCS and CVCC have also adopted a standard regarding e-signatures which would also make this process easier. Jim will suggest that David Lightfoot share the e-signatures information and how they can be used by faculty and staff.
Spring Convocation
Several sessions were recorded at Convocation and they will be included in the Canvas site. The Opening Session was recorded, but has not yet been distributed. At this time, there are not plans to offer a mini Convocation mid-semester for those who couldn’t attend. Instead, Kris will be hosting a Division meeting on February 25 which will likely cover much of this and we will send out the Opening Session recording from Convocation as well.
