Meeting began at 1:00pm

Ken Bunch started the meeting with a focus on how the committee might go about forming a comprehensive marketing plan for the college. To that end, some handouts where given out with categories and questions pertinent to establishing some basic understanding of the college’s services and its target audience and primary stakeholders.
To recap, it was a committee group discussion on the following areas of interest:
What is it about CVCC that you think is worthwhile to promote? What do we have to offer? What makes us unique? What services do you think are important?
Feedback included: smaller class sizes; flexible class times (night); quality of faculty; more diversity and inclusion; dedication to student success (tutoring); better acceptance for marginal students
What groups are we trying to get our message to?
Target groups include: High school seniors; the underemployed/unemployed worker; the cost conscious student; the degree seeking transfer student; H.S. career coaches and guidance counselors
What are some ways effective ways to get our message out?
Traditional media includes: TV, radio, outdoor, transit
New approaches might include: Real student testimonials, more special enrollment events, career panels at local high schools, better use of videos and YouTube channel and social media in general
When are the best times of the year to voice our communication message?
It was agreed April is the most important time of year to get out our marketing message for fall enrollment.
