Storage of Flammable Liquids
Flammable liquids are defined as those liquids with a flash point of 140 degrees Fahrenheit or less and having a vapor pressure not exceeding forty pounds per square inch (absolute) at 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Flammable liquid containers in excess of two liters shall not be stored in the educational buildings, laboratories, storerooms, or garages.
Flammable liquids will be dispensed from and stored in standard safety containers conspicuously labeled as to contents.
Flammable liquids required in small quantities for frequent use will be stored in approved safety cans in an area ventilated to the outside when practical.
Flammable liquids will not be used for cleaning floors, clothing, or equipment.
Flammable liquids requiring disposal will be segregated and stored until disposition instructions are received from the Facilities Management Director. At no time will flammable liquids be poured down drains or sewers.
